Villa Maria - Frontenac Minnesota
Villa Maria is Part of the Great River Road Audio Tour

Villa Maria Minnesota Tourism Information

Villa Maria is located in the town of Frontenac, MN along the shores of Lake Pepin. Villa Maria was built by the Ursuline Sisters on the original location of Fort Beauharnois, which had to be moved due to water damage. The new location still stands nearby. Today, Villa Maria serves as an interfaith retreat and conference center. While the architecture of the building alone is worth the visit, Villa Maria offers spiritual retreats for people from all faiths and walks of life. An interesting note is that Villa Maria has two labyrinths, one outdoor and one indoor, modeled after the labyrinth at Chartres, France built in the year 1200. Labyrinths of this type have long been used as a place for meditative walking.
