Princeton, Minnesota
Princeton is Part of the Iron Range Audio Tour

Princeton Minnesota Tourism Information

Princeton, MN is located on the Rum River along Highway 169 just northwest of the Twin Cities. Beginning around the time of Princeton’s first resident, a lumberjack known as Banjo Bill, inhabitants came to the area for its vast forest of white pine. In fact, the town was named after John Prince, a lumber man who built a sawmill in nearby St. Paul. Around 1890, when agriculture had overtaken logging as the primary industry, brick making began its rise as the area’s top industry due to large deposits of clay found two miles north of town at a place called Brickton. Brickton does not exist today since the clay has been used up. Some things to see and do in Princeton, MN include visiting the nearby Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge, the Mille Lacs Historical Society Museum, the Great Northern Depot, and the nearby Oliver H. Kelley Farm, a local living history farm.
