Baptism River Area Minnesota Tourism Information
The Baptism River is located inside Tettegouche State Park along the shores of Lake Superior in Minnesota. The Baptist River Fishing Club, one of the first such clubs on Lake Superior, had an initial membership of 40 fishermen, most of whom were successful businessmen and politicians from Duluth and St. Paul and included James J. Hill, a railroad magnate who resided in St. Paul. The club also focused on preservation, and they stocked the river with so much trout that it is still a popular fishing destination today. Some things to see and do near the Baptism river include visiting the 60 foot Cascade Falls, one of the highest falls in Minnesota, and Palisade Head, a large and prominent Lake Superior cliff that attracts hikers and rock climbers.
