Cass Lake, Minnesota
Cass Lake is Part of the Brainerd Lakes Audio Tour

Cass Lake Minnesota Tourism Information

Cass Lake, MN
is both the name of a lake and a town on that lake. The lake was originally named Red Cedar Lake after the trees growing on Cedar Island, but was renamed Cass Lake in honor of the Governor of the Territory of Michigan who traveled the area in 1918 and incorrectly proclaimed the lake as the source of the Mississippi River. Cass Lake is close to the Chippewa National Forest, the Lost Forty White Pine Stand and Lady Slipper Scenic Byway and is home to numerous attractions including a winery and the Cass Lake Museum.
